Death by Presidential Decree

Twitter Email

This week the terrorists scored a major victory. President Barak Obama murdered two American citizens who had been convicted of no crime nor even accused of any crimes under the due process of law. The legal protections guaranteed American citizens under the constitution of the United States were rendered null and void. The president broke his oath of office to uphold the constitution and should be impeached.

The corporate media, acting as the government’s propaganda machine, focused on how this execution would affect Al Queda instead of how it undermines the
democratic rights of all American citizens. Some did mention that US military
drones killing American born citizens “raised some constitutional issues.” But
even these meek queries, amid the celebratory hoopla, miss the point. This
action did not ‘raise questions’ it directly violated the constitution.

Constitution, Bill of Rights, Article Five:  “…No person shall…be deprived of life, liberty or property, without due process of law.”

No stipulations, no exceptions. The claims of a president or ‘secret intelligence’ do not constitute due process of law. The Hellfire missile attack that took the lives of two Americans fell outside the rule of law. It was murder.

This process of substituting presidential decree for the rule of law under the US
Constitution was encoded in the PATRIOT Act. It allows citizens to be detained
and incarcerated without evidence, charges, or trials at the whim of the
president. But even George W. Bush, who brought us the PATRIOT Act, who lied to
get us to invade Iraq, who used the media to spread lies about Saddam Hussain’s
nuclear arsenal, weapons of mass destruction, and terrorist ties, who was
responsible for the death of over 5,000 American troops and nearly a million
Iraqi citizens, even Bush never ordered the execution of American Citizens. President
Obama has slavishly followed the dictates of the United States war machine and
the example of George W. until now.

With this unprecedented assassination of American citizens, the Obama administration has taken the abrogation of constitutional rights to a whole new level. The most
basic right guaranteed under the constitution—the right to life—can now be
taken away by a word from the president. While claiming to weaken the terrorist
network, such actions play into their hands in a more important way—they
undermine our way of life. The terrorists on both sides of this war
scored a major victory this week.

PS  Declaration of Independence:  “…whenever any form of government becomes
destructive of these ends (life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness) it is
the right of the people to alter or abolish it…”
